Linea had to mark its presence in the Indian subcontinent in November 2008 but the Mumbai terror attacks forced Fiat to delay the launch. Finally in the beginning of 2009, Linea marked a grand entry in Indian sub-continent and the results have been fascinating.

Born and brought up in Brazil, Linea has been a graceful car ever since its test model. It replaced the old war-horse from Fiat, the Marea. Fiat Linea has been doing wonderfully well everywhere. Its platform of Grande Punto makes it a very stable and reliable car.

Fiat Bravo

Fiat Bravo is one of the most beautiful small segment cars produced by Fiat. From 1995 to 2001, it mesmerized everyone across the globe with its interiors and stunning performance. In 2007, Stilo took the place of Bravo and the production marks of this car were removed from the factories of Fiat forever.

The successful production of Fiat Bravo marked the end of an era of another legendary Fiat model, the Tipo. The new engines were much more advanced and powerful.

As the name suggests, it was a really tough and brave decision by Fiat to nullify the manufacture of a really successful model and introduce a new pawn. The new Fiat Bravo had all the ingredients of a wonderful car.

Backed by a powerful 1.8L 16-valve engine, this car is meant to do wonders on road. Also known as the 113 PS engine by many, it helps Bravo achieve an astounding speed of 200 Km/h. The Fiat persons were brave enough to try out these models with both versions of fuel. After the successful launch of petrol engines, diesel engines came into picture.

fiat bravo Fiat Bravo

Fiat has produced two high performance diesel engines for Bravo, both of which had a 1.9L capacity backed by four cylinders.

In the very first year of its launch Bravo also won the award of ‘European car of the year.’ A major setback came in the year 2001 when the new Stilo was to be launched as the next successor of Bravo. The production of Bravo came to a standstill. Stilo was one of the biggest flops which further added to the miseries of Fiat Planning Department.

If we shift our focus towards the various performance segments of this car, we can see that Bravo was indeed a fabulous small segment car.

In a survey conducted by the World Auto bodies, Fiat Bravo secured an average rating of 14.2 on a scale of 20. The area of running costs and handling were the flag-bearers of this awesome score sheet. Though the advanced version failed badly, Bravo was a gemstone from Fiat’s kitty.

From true practicality of the vehicle to an impeccable quality, great performance to sturdy and manly looks, extreme comfort to wonderful handling; the Fiat Bravo encompassed every single feature in a beautiful manner.

A car that passed the toughest of the road tests, Fiat Bravo was truly a masterpiece worth reading. Times have drastically changed the cars on the roads today, but the memories of the legendary Bravo are still fresh in everyone’s mind.

Fiat Croma

How many of you believe in re-births and the story of Phoenix rising from the ashes? Well. I know it is a mixed bag of answers for this question. Have you ever heard the same for automobiles? Unbelievably true, but the same did happen for one of the most cherished models of Italian giant, Fiat.

Fiat Croma has lived two lives. The history started way back in 1985 when it was first launched as a five-door notchback liftback. Fiat Croma also marked the end of Fiat Argenta. Unlike other executive cars which were also built on the ‘Type Four’ chassis, Croma was truly a large family segment competitor. There were more than a dozen engine modifications for this car until in 1996 the last model boasted a 2466 cc engine with 100 PS.

1996 closed the curtains on this great family car that served the people for more than a decade. Riding on the success of its predecessor, Croma returned with a bang in 2005. With more than 6 auto-maker giants involved in the overall planning and designing of this vehicle; Croma was expected to rock the roads. But fate had other plans as the car failed miserably.

fiat croma Fiat Croma

Unlike previous models, Fiat designed it like a comfort wagon rather than a large segment family car. In February 2007, Fiat UK had to take a tough decision of discontinuing the production of Fiat Croma in UK. With just 900 vehicles sold in 2005, Croma’s future was in a poor condition.

In the 4th quarter of 2007, the sales saw an upsurge in other parts of the world as the sales of Croma rose. Fiat made minor changes in the overall looks of Croma which helped the cause.

Covering the segment of comfort and overall performance on road, we saw a different statistic sheet. It was rated as one of the most comfortable hatch with a huge boot and good access to the front and rear seats. The handling is awesome and so is the overall grip on the road.

The latest model of Croma is one of the safest in the world right now. It has qualified the test of 5-star crash and hence it is one of the best in its segment. Croma has always flaunted its style in a different manner. It features a host of sophisticated devices such as 7 crash airbags; ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution); ESP (Electronic Stability Program) including ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), MSR (Motor Schleppmoment Regelung) and HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance); Hill-holder and many more.

Croma surely has a mediocre past but there is no doubt in the fact that it is one of the best ever cars from Fiat.

Fiat 500C – First Photos

Here are the first photos of the Fiat 500C, the convertible version of the 500 model, which will be presented for the first time at the Geneva Auto Show. The roof is a soft top, that works the same way that older cabrio models used to do it.

There are three available colors for the soft top: black, white and red. The top also incorporates in the design the third stop lamp, which is visible at all times, even if the top is up or down.

As for the technical part, the Fiat 500C will have the same options as the 500, with two petrol engines to choose from (1.2L with 69HP and 1.4L with 100HP) with the third engine being the 1.3L Multijet with 75HP.

Shortly after the Geneva Auto Show will end, sales for the Fiat 500C will begin.

Fiat Is Asking For Help From The Government

Even though there were a lot of good news about Fiat recently, not everything is great there.

Just like most other car manufacturers, Fiat is looking at cutting down jobs. Unless the Italian government steps in and helps them, as many as 60,000 jobs might be cut.

Negotiations between the unions, Fiat and the government have started already. Since the crisis hit, the profits of Fiat dropped by 70% in the last quarter of 2008 and they predict that it will go down for another 20%.
